1954 Volkswagen 1200 Deluxe

This 1954 Volkswagen Oval Window was offered for sale at the 2007 Christies auction of 'Exceptional Motor Cars at the Monterey Jet Center.' It is finished in Stratos silver with fish gray cloth interior. Power comes from the four-cylinder engine with overhead valves and capable of producing 36 horsepower. There is a four-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drum brakes.

The tree-fold configuration was produced for only a few years, lasting from 1953 through 1954. This example may very well be one of the finest examples in existence. It has been treated to a complete and thorough restoration done to high standards. It is fitted with a German weave carpet kit, original Petri 3-spoke steering with St. Christopher horn button, X pattern wheel covers, rear window shade, original Albert mirrors, Motometer rally instrument pack, original Marchal driving and backup lights, Motorola radio, rear mud flaps, center console wire basket, locking gear shift, original bug screens, Kanai parking brake handle, and chrome engine vent covers.
